TT
Known as the road racing capital of the world, the Isle of Man
circuit is entirely made-up of public roads which are closed
during Practice and Race weeks (traditionally end of May and
beginning of June). During
TT the population of the Island doubles and it take on a 'mardi
gras' feeling. 2007 is the centenary of the start of the Isle
of Man TT races, and it promises to be a bumper year, when enthusiasts
and spectators from all over the world flock to the Island,
to experience the 'adrenalin rush' engendered by this most exciting
and hugely popular motor sport. TT (Tourist Trophy) is only
one of many annual motor racing events held on other Island.
For more information visit the Isle
of Man TT official website.
Other Exciting & Fast Events
Equally exciting for motor race fans but a smaller event is
the Manx
Grand Prix (last 2 weeks of August) as is the Southern
100.
Other popular events are The
Manx International Car Rally, Stock
Car Racing, the
Manx Kart Grand Prix. The island further hosts an International
Cycling Week. Nearly all these events and others take place
across the Island during the summer months. |
