Douglas is the evening entertainment
centre of the Island, and on the promenade it boasts the Villa
Marina and Gaiety Theatre Complex. The Villa Marina is an
exciting new venue linked to the showpiece Gaiety, fully restored
to its Victorian splendor, and one of the finest surviving
examples of a Frank Marcham theatre. Ten pin bowling, night
clubs, cinemas, a casino and the National Sports Centre all
make Douglas a favourite for entertainment.
The ruins of medieval Peel Castle and St German Cathedral
serve as a dramatic summer stage for open-air performances
of Shakespeare and music. Ramsey's Morragh Park is also a
lively entertainment venue, hosting a variety of summer concerts.
Kart racing, sporting events, National Heritage sites, transport
and aviation museums, national glens, flower/food/walking
and Viking festivals and much much more - all go to make the
Isle of Man a very social place.
