Those already living
on the Island know themselves to be very lucky, and you only
have to speak to some of the locals to know this is true.
We enjoy a very high quality of life and our small but low
population Island is perhaps a little 'old-fashioned', but,
it is a safe haven where crime is low, the air clean and the
unemployment rate is under 2%.
The average income on the Isle of Man is higher than that
of the UK, and we pride ourselves on our health and education
systems. Combined with our excellent sports and recreational
facilities, this all contributes to making the Island a wonderful
place to bring-up children. The Island has a good infrastructure,
Douglas being the main centre for both business and banking.
Douglas offers modern shopping facilities with many well known
high street retailers available in The Strand pedestrian precinct,
plus plenty of choice of pubs, restaurants, hotels and quality
entertainment. Outside
of Douglas, the Island's smaller towns and villages have a
more rural charm, and yet they are all within easy reach of
the Capital and Ronaldsway Airport.
Our independent state is fast becoming one of Europe's most
successful small economies, and it offers it's residents and
businesses alike the benefit of low taxation. The Island also
actively encourages IT, broadband is widely available, as
are attractive grants for entrepreneurs and industry. |
